So Vicki's parents, in her own words, "threw" her in their family homes in Beijing and Shanghai, so she could appreciate the glory of solitude. Or more likely, independence. At first, "force" to be alone - her parents live in Anhui กV she could not get used to the silence. "Because I do like to talk a lot. "but when you are not talking, your mind starts working a bit more. It was good." Sometimes though, her mind played tricks on her. And she slept with the lights on because she was sacred of the dark and ghosts. It made her turn down a role in Ann Hui's latest supernatural movie, Visible Secrets, which stars Shu Qi. But Vicki figures life works in funny ways. Since then, she has replaced Shu Qi as the face for Esprit's Red Earth cosmetics. She thinks it was an indirect "trade-off".Coincidentally, she is now shooting a Hongkong action movie with Shu Qi. The working title is Western Angel.The gongfu scenes has been demanding for Vicki, set to strike out in movies this year.There were bruises on her left arm, courtesy of the "Bruce Lee moves ".

HOLLYWOOD NEXT?
Another Chinese movie, Tian Di Ying Xiong (literally Universal Hero) comes next. Both films, including the Stephen Chow comedy Shaolin Soccer she has just completed, will be marketed in the US. Should Hollywood watch out? "I have never given Hollywood any thought. If it comes, it will.' If she becomes big in the international market and looms over Shu Qu, we will certainly be watching.
